still over the moon. Fortunately for you - it means I'm celebrating. And how do we celebrate on Inside Out? With the giveaway to beat all January blues - a Scholastic package of books plus the hard-to-find (and hopping on eBay) Obama action figure. I couldn't even get my hands on one of these this year, but Scholastic has set one aside for one lucky Inside Out winner, along with a pile of our political picks from the bookshelves.
Don't worry, we're not going partisan here. Our favorites are purely independent for independent-thinking kids!
Who doesn't hold a soft spot in their heart for a dog? Mayoral candidate Hugo Bugwort, that's who. The former chief of police is looking to clean up the city of Pumpkinville in LaRue for Mayor: Letters from the Campaign Trail by Mark Teague - by cracking down on dogs. But when Ike LaRue gets his paws on petitions and makes his own bid for city hall, things get really interesting! LaRue is, after all, a dog. So what's the key to peace in Pumpkinville? Think team of rivals; and a good lesson for the school-aged set on making making friends out of one's enemies.
All three books, plus the Barack Obama Action Figure are up for grabs to one Inside Out reader. Check out the Scholastic store, and pick your favorite books to celebrate the inauguration. Let us know what it is and why in comments . Get extra entries by grabbing my badge and/or blogging about this contest and all (remember to leave the link in comments as well).
Open to U.S. and Canadian residents, the contest will close on January 19, so remember to check back or subscribe at left to be notified right away. NEW SUBSCRIBERS for the month of January will all be entered to win a gift certificate to one of my favorite pajama shops - details coming later this week - so don't forget to subscribe at left!

The "Scholastic Encyclopedia of the Presidents and Their Times" looks like a great presidential reference book for all families. Can you recite all the presidents in order? I can! Or at least I used to be able to. Thanks for a great giveaway!

I grew up on Scholastic books, so I don't have to worry about their quality. I'd love "Mr. President: A Book of U.S. Presidents - 2009 Edition," which gives individual tidbits about the lives of USA Presidents. "Yes We Can! A Salute to Children from President Obama's Victory Speech" would also be cool to explain to kids the historic significance of this particular election.
My friend sent me the link to this giveaway, because she knew I'd flip for it. She's absolutely right. Thanks for a fun giveaway!
I sooo want that action figure!!! ;)
I like the Yes, we can book - such a hopeful positive message!!! :)
