Giveaway: Knot Genie Supreme

Knot Genie with handle

Let’s face it, there aren’t a lot of products in this world that a mother absolutely must buy for her children. Kids, by and large, would be happy with a giant cardboard box and maybe some crayons.

So I’ll steer clear of the hyperbole … you don’t absolutely have to buy a Knot Genie for your kids. But if you’ve got a kid with hair longer than a few inches and you actually value your sanity, let me just say you might WANT to buy a Knot Genie?

I first heard of this magical little number a few years back when my daughter’s tangled mane was bringing me close to tears on the regular. It once took us 17 minutes to brush out the roiling mess of knots that was her hair. Seventeen. I timed it. And she kvetched the whole. Entire. Time. I was thisclose to frog marching her to the stylist’s for a big chop chop when a friend offered up her secret — this little brush that fits in the palm of your hand and laughs in the face of snarls.

It was magic. Seriously. That’s what the kid renamed the Knot Genie — the MAGIC brush.

And life has been ever more magical ever since … save for one wee little problem.

Kiddo is fast approaching 9, and you know what that means? She doesn’t want her mom brushing her hair. Ohhhh, no, she’s a big girl, and she can do it her darn self. Only problem is she has the arms of a not-yet 9-year-old, which means she can’t exactly reach every spot on that head with a handheld brush. Back to knotty, snarly disaster we went.

Until a few weeks ago when a chance meeting on Twitter with the Knot Genie folks (I shared my ode to their brush of a few years back, they gave me a retweet) clued me in to their magical new invention … the Knot Genie Supreme.

It’s the brush that has become so important to our family … with a fancy schmancy handle! In other words, the very answer to our problem!

I just had to try it, so I reached out to the Knot Genie folks … might they share one with me for a giveaway on this here ramblin’ blog? Well, the genies granted my wish! Not only did they send me a Knot Genie Supreme to try out to see if it was indeed all it promised to be (and more!), but they offered one silver Knot Genie Supreme for an Inside Out reader.

Folks, let me tell you, it’s exactly what we needed. The uneven bristles do the exact work of the original, working through tangles with easy instead of ripping at the delicate hair, but the handle has granted my child the autonomy she so desperately wanted, as well as given me a little breather in the morning. Instead of spending time with her hair, I can throw her lunch together or actually brush my darn teeth in the morning!
